MacFusion is an open source Mac application that allows you to work with files on servers across the internet, as if they were sitting on your computer. Macfusion presents a Volume in Finder, letting you use your favorite Mac applications to work with them. Macfusion works with SSH/SFTP and FTP servers.
More generally, Macfusion is a front-end to MacFUSE software. Macfusion provides a plugin API to enable the creation of plugins for other FUSE filesystems.
Version 2.0.3 fixes a crashing bug that could happen while switching tabs. It also fixes an issue where Macfusion could prompt for updates repeatedly.
Version 2.0.2 fixes several issues that caused crashes during password saving and retrieving, as well as a code signing issue which prevents passwords from being accessed from keychain.
Mac OS X 10.5 or later, MacFUSE installed.

MGORBACH Good point, this isa feature that was in v1 and is not in v2. If you can, please file a bug on Macfusion's trac requesting this. (Version 2.0.3)

WORLD28 This version is a disaster. All favorites have disappeared, and connections are all impossible with SSHFS (no mount, unrecognized password) ! By the way, I wrote Applescripts for SSHFS, that work fine, which confirm that this version of macfusion is TOTALLY buggy. A shame, even for an opensource program. (Version 2.0.2)

JETFIREDX Yeah it seems pretty unstable still with FTP as well. Trying to change the default path to ~/Comcast caused it to crash after an error about being unable to create the mount point. (However typing the full path in worked fine the next time.) Glad to see MacFusion getting some updates though! Hopefully it will just continue to get better. (Version 2.0.2)

NICK.V Version 2.0.1 still seems very buggy. I get crashes when I go to the MacFusion tab for a favorite or try to mount via SSH using a password on the keychain. My advice is to stick with an older build (the last one I have is 1.3 Beta 3) for now. (Version 2.0.1)

MGORBACH Nick. Thank you for the feedback. Please report these crashes in the Trac site: macfusionapp.org/trac. It's very hard for me to fix these unless they are reported, as they do not happen on my computer. What I need to fix these crashes you mention are crash logs as well as specifications on the type of machine you are using.

NICK.V I submitted the bug for the Macfusion tab crash. The keychain crash appears to be fixed now with the latest build... (Version 2.0.2)

MARK EVERITT I can't seem to add favourites in version 2.0. I can connect to server, but the Favourites menu item is greyed out as are all the menu items in the configuration box. Otherwise it's fantastic as always! (Version 2.0)

MGORBACH You should be able to add favorites by clicking the plus button in the main window (not the menuitem). (Version 2.0)
| Jul 21 2008 |
MARK EVERITT Sorry, that's what I meant by the menu items in the configuration box. Everything in the plus and the cog is greyed out. (Version 2.0)

MGORBACH hmm, I'm not sure how this happened, but a bug I thought I killed earlier seems to have reappeared. Will be fixed in very short order. (Version 2.0)

MARK EVERITT Thanks. I'm liking the new interface, very slick! (Version 2.0)
| Jul 21 2008 |
MGORBACH Should be fixed now. You can either re-download it from Macupdate, or do a "check for updates" from Macfusion's menu. The new version is 2.0.1. Apologies to all! (Version 2.0)

MIKEDFUNK I am not able to save my password for an FTP mount with v2.0.1 on Mac OS 10.5.4. When I check "Save Password in Keychain" and click OK to mount it says "The application ftpfs_askpass quit unexpectedly" and then slides down a notice - "Could not mount filesystem: Mount has timed out." Would love to be able to save passwords and load them from the keychain. (Version 2.0.1)
| Jul 22 2008 |
MARK EVERITT I've noticed this too, but I occasionally have keychain issues anyway so I put it down to that. I'll do a repair permissions before I put it down to macfusion. (Version 2.0.1)

SCORCH Amazing. Just what I was looking for. Very straight-forward and works beautifully with macFUSE 10.5-1.5.1. No restart required (the installer for macFUSE warns about this). You can even quit the app and have the mounted disk(s) remains. (Version 1.2b3)

But i couldn't manage to show the mounted servers in the finder sidebar. They only show up on the desktop, although the finder shows servers which are mounted local via afp. (Version 1.2b3)

NO LEGGED SNAKE This program is great! I mean, you can do this using osx anyway, but this program just makes it really easy. Its really slow to read and write to your ftp mount but thats got nothing to do with the program and everything to do with the speed of your internet connection. I'd definitely recommend this one to web developers. (Version 1.2b3)

ARVIDTP I want to like this app, but so far all it does when I try to connect to an FTP server is beachball ALL my apps for upwards of 5 minutes (I can't do anything at all with the mac, in any app!) then says unmounted next to the FTP account in the MacFUSE list when it is finally done with this. ARVIDTP I thought I would give it another try, but sure enough - system hosed again - had to force reboot. (Version 1.2b3)

G3P0 I love this app. My only wish is that it could mount smb volumes as well. (Version 1.2b3)
